Hi everyone! These rankings are based on overall value of the 08 season:
1. Albert Pujols STL
I don't care what anyone says about his slumps and his elbow. He is a shoe-in for an over .300 BA and 35-45 HR. Clearly the best 1B
2. Prince Fielder MIL
Yes I know, he's on a diet, but he will soon realize how to hit without all of that meat. I am not expecting 50 HR but 30-40 HR and a .290 BA.
3. Ryan Howard PHI
I would have put him at #2 but look at his K Rate. If he was more patient then he would be at #2 but I expect a .250-260 BA an 40-50 HR.
4. David Ortiz BOS
He is in a huge slump right now, but hey so are the Sox as a team. When he gets back on form he has a great BA and alot of RBIs and HR.
5. Lance Berkman HOU
With that potent offense, he has tons of run support and chances to score in. A nice April doesn't hurt either... Expect a better than average year from Berk. (That's a great thing) And expect about 15 steals.
6. Derrek Lee CHI
OK, if Chicago keeps up a good run, with their pitchers also, Lee will have a better team to score RBIs. Otherwise he still is a top hitter. A .300 BA and about 30 HR is fine with me.
7. Mark Texeira ATL
He had a great 2nd half last year, and I expect more. Just a better AVG would be nice with those HR.
8. Adrian Gonzalez SD
He might play in Petco, but he still has the power. He is a consistent hitter at the plate, but less K's would do him justice.
9. Justin Morneau MIN
He just needs to get back in it. He is on a good streak and I expect tons of HR from this guy.
10. Carlos Pena TB
He has great power and last year wasn't a fluke. Expect sa barrrage of HR but a low BA.
People I didn't put: M-Cab,V-Mart,C. Guillen
Others that missed: C. Kotchman, J. Loney, P. Konerko, M. Jacobs, K. Youkilis
